Potato consumption effect on Crohn's Disease patients:
- Inflame and irritate the intestines
- Increase intestinal permeability resulting in significant damage
- Sore achey joints, Arthritis like symptoms
- Inhibit healing and cause strictures
- Spike blood sugar through the stratosphere
- Inhibit correct absorption of nutrients due to Saponins
The majority of gluten-free foods are full of potato starch. Eating these foods will make you sick. They are high in sugar, and have hardly any real nutrition. Even when cooked and processed these glycoalkaloids are still present in the potato starch. I get a lot of emails from people confused why they are having problems healing, incorrect diet is the big culprit. Potatoes will cause your intestines to swell up, joints will ache, and you will lose weight and look terrible.
My advice, is to avoid any gluten-free foods containing starches. Stay away from anything not Paleo. Paleo diet is the only proven way to regain your health and heal your intestines. I've never seen a healthy person who eats gluten-free baked goods, they always look frail and weak. The sickest phase in my life was eating gluten-free baked goods. My intestines felt horrible and I couldn't understand what I was doing wrong. Once I switched to Paleo, my muscle mass increased significantly and dramatic healing took place.
I cannot stress enough how toxic potatoes are to those with Crohn's disease. Potatoes are toxic to humans, but the effects are especially pronounced in those with Crohn's disease.
